about

In the Lane is the first single of Gráinne's forthcoming solo album Newcomer. Due for release this summer, the album was inspired by the novel 'The Rat-Pit' by Irish writer Patrick MacGill. The story follows a young Donegal woman, Norah Ryan who, upon emigrating to Scotland as a teenager, was vulnerable to poverty, sexual exploitation, and great emotional loss. In this part of the tale, Norah is seduced by the son of the farmer who she is working for.
